Graduate Student Assembly
International Board Representative

Gloria Natividad de Conley
University of Idaho

I am a Peruvian educator and have been living in the United States for more than 20 years. I hold a Master's degree in Education from the Peruvian University, Federico Villarreal. I am in the second year of my Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Idaho. As a doctoral student, my passion is to embrace teaching and learning, be a mentor, and inspire undergraduate and graduate students.

My research and teaching interest is the intersection of technology and education with an emphasis on English as a second language. Specifically, studying different programs related to language skills, creating techniques to provide a soft transition, and acculturation into American Society.

I work as a TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Academic Counselor at the University of Idaho and provide academic and personal support to first-generation undergraduate students so that they can succeed in their career goals. Prior to my arrival at the University of Idaho, I was a Spanish and science teacher at Little Edison School, which is a subsidiary of Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, and a Spanish teacher at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Moscow, Idaho. I am also a member and mentor at Palouse Pathways, a non-profit organization that provides resources, and information to high school students and their families to prepare them for college, career planning, and scholarships.

I am also a part of the University of Idaho STEM Education Research Group, and I, in collaboration with three others, was awarded second place in the poster presentation of the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences Research Symposium for “The Effect of Campus Mentorship on TRIO-SSS College Students at the University of Idaho”.

I became a member of AECT, a prestigious organization, on October 2022, under the assistance of Dr. Tonia Dousay, my mentor. Participating at the AECT International conference inspired me to be involved in the international division and be part of the Graduate Student Assembly (GSA).
